How Beach House Is Helping More Americans Find Recovery

Helping Americans Find RecoveryBeach House is excited to announce that it has taken a significant step towards helping more Americans find much-needed treatment for addiction, with its recent acquisition, in late June, by the New York-based healthcare private equity firm, BelHealth Investment Partners, LLC.

After an exhaustive, two-year search of treatment centers throughout the country, BelHealth chose Beach House to be their platform company, which means our management team will now lead a growth plan in order to become a larger company and in turn help more people recover. The shared vision: more treatment centers across the country that, inspired by Beach House’s distinctive model, will pair high-quality treatment excellence with a culture of love and connection in the pursuit of only the very best treatment outcomes.

Reaching More People with High-Quality Addiction Treatment

In a June 27 press release announcing the development, Managing Partner of BelHealth Harold S. Blue described why his firm chose Beach House as its model for more facilities across America, reaching a greater number of people with high-quality treatment:

Our team has searched exhaustively throughout the SUD industry over the last two years to find the best managed company. In Beach House and Glenn Cohen, we have found it. As the amount of people in need of treatment continues to grow, providers require substantial resources and unmatched sophistication in order to provide world-class care while also meeting the demands of commercial payors. Beach House has a proven clinical track-record, a tremendous management team and an established corporate infrastructure, which makes the Company well-positioned for robust growth.

Closing the Addiction Treatment Gap in America

Every year millions of Americans with substance use disorders go without treatment, thanks to a shortage of services. This new partnership signifies Beach House’s renewed commitment to help close the existing treatment gap in this country.

Now that we have found our partner, our plan is to scale the existing platform via capacity expansion and other organic growth opportunities on our existing campus in Juno Beach. In addition, we plan to open de novo facilities focused on Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) offerings while also scanning the country for strategic add-ons in key geographies. To maximize success and superior outcomes for clients, Beach House will continue to develop innovative models that are tailored to combat addiction and promote on-going outpatient treatment.

Beach House is also expanding its board to include a number of highly regarded industry and political professionals, whose contacts will help us serve a wider segment of working Americans who need substance abuse treatment.

Key Considerations for Investment and Expansion

“I am proud of what our team at Beach House has been able to accomplish over the last few years, and we are thrilled to be partnering with the BelHealth team to help continue our ascent,” Beach House founder and CEO Cohen said. “We look forward to leveraging their experience and network as we aggressively grow our established platform throughout different geographies and care settings.”

In a letter to staff describing the changes, Cohen said he believes the acquisition will increase “our ability to invest in our business to make it stronger and to grow in specific areas both on and off campus.” He said consideration is currently underway about whether to expand the bottom floor of our two-story residential building and make it a 35-and-older-only section of beach house. “This will allow the older population at beach house to feel more comfortable and at ease and do better work in a comfortable environment to improve their chances of recovery,” Cohen wrote.

Cohen will stay on as CEO with the goal of helping Beach House become “the best treatment center in America.”
