Beach House Recovery Center » Blog » Beach House Hosts June 14 Town Hall on Role of Family in Recovery
After the success of our last town hall and in response to popular demand, Beach House will be hosting another community town hall on Monday, June 14 at 6:30pm — this time to discuss the importance of family involvement in recovery. The event is free and open to the public with advance reservation.
Once again, the conversation will assemble a diverse panel of experts. They were invited to participate because their credentials, training and/or personal experience make them authorities on the role of the family in recovery:
Business Development Manager JD Page shared why he is organizing the event on behalf of Beach House as an open invitation to all of the Palm Beach County community: “We want more of the community involved in addressing addiction, because whether they want to admit it or not, they are impacted by this epidemic, either directly or indirectly. It’s something that everyone’s going to be able to relate to in one way or another.”
Page said much of the evening’s focus will be devoted to educating families on post-rehab life with a loved one in early recovery. “There is much higher efficacy when the loved one is receiving that education on the back end [of treatment],” he said. “Families often don’t know what to expect when a loved one gets home from rehab. For example, if they can’t come to the understanding that they’re part of the problem, then there’s probably some dysfunctional family dynamic that needs to be addressed.”
Some of the discussion will also cover “the front end” of treatment for addiction, such as “being able to identify a drug or alcohol problem and knowing what to do when someone you love is struggling,” according to Page.
Micah Robbins, a community substance use prevention leader, treatment and recovery advocate, and regular columnist for Beach House’s newsletter, “A Connected Life,” will be facilitating the interactive discussion between panelists and taking questions from the audience.
The town hall will take place in the Education Room at Beach House, located at 13321 U.S. 1, Juno Beach, FL 33408. Space is limited. Please RSVP in advance to reserve a seat, by calling
