Alcohol Detox & Treatment Programs
Is alcohol ruining your life?
Get help now
Alcohol use disorders are common in this country: as many as one-third of all Americans will struggle with an alcohol problem at some point in their life. If you’re among them, you need to know that you’re not alone and we’re here to help— and, that with alcohol detox and treatment you can find lasting freedom from this socially accepted but potentially lethal drug of abuse.
At Beach House, alcohol detox and treatment comprise a medically supervised, inpatient withdrawal from alcohol—the first level of care for anyone whose drinking problem has become unmanageable—followed by inpatient alcohol treatment, a second level of care that immediately follows detox. Both levels of care are essential to achieving freedom from alcohol: detox addresses the physical symptoms of a chemical dependency, while inpatient treatment addresses the emotional and behavioral roots of the addiction, so that clients can discover healthy coping tools for preventing relapse and sustaining a life free of addiction.

Why a Medically Supervised Detox from Alcohol Is Essential
Is your drinking causing problems? Find help today
Heavy or problem drinkers who attempt to go “cold turkey” at home or taper off alcohol on their own put themselves at risk of serious, potentially fatal complications. Some withdrawal symptoms, such as seizures and hallucinations—more common than you might think—can be frightening, life-threatening or both. Other symptoms can be incredibly uncomfortable. For example, in the absence of Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) from an addiction psychiatrist, alcohol cravings can often be so intense and uncomfortable that they quickly lead to relapse. These are the biggest reasons why you shouldn’t detox from alcohol on your own.
The Beach House staff made me feel loved from the first time I spoke to them until the last day I was there.” – Cody
In reality, the smartest, most secure option—for anyone hoping to safely and completely detox from alcohol—is a medically supervised detox. Bear in mind, though, that not every alcohol detox center in Florida or nationwide can be trusted to deliver high-quality substance abuse care.
Why Detox and Treatment Are the Gold Standard of Care for an Alcohol Problem
Studies show that recovery success rates significantly increase the longer someone is engaged in a program of alcohol treatment. Risks of relapse are also highest during the first month of recovery when alcohol cravings are strongest. 35 days of inpatient alcohol rehab paired with detox is therefore the minimal length of treatment that we recommend to clients who may not be able to undertake a longer stay.
There is evidence to support a minimum of 35 days in treatment as the gold standard for detox and achieving recovery. In general, the first 28 days of recovery are a time when the client is experiencing acute withdrawal followed by post-acute withdrawal syndrome. This is also the time when relationships are being established and re-established with their primary therapist and close loved ones. It is after the initial detox period that the underlying issues can be addressed that may have led to or worsened substance abuse and held the client back from achieving their recovery goals. ” – Medical Director Dr. Meera Joseph, MD
“Post-acute withdrawal syndrome” (PAWS)—a phenomenon that 75 percent of recovering drinkers reportedly experience to some degree—is another reason we strongly recommend at least 35 days of inpatient alcohol rehab as a general treatment protocol. Symptoms of PAWS can be serious and can include:
- Cravings for alcohol
- Cognitive difficulties
- Irritability and hostility
- Feelings of anxiety or panic
- Depressed mood
- Relationship issues
- Obsessive-compulsive behaviors
- Low motivation, apathy or pessimism
- Sleep problems
- Heightened sensitivity to stress
In the absence of medical and clinical supervision within a safe and sober living environment, one or more of the above symptoms can trigger an alcohol relapse.
We provide both comfort medications and scheduled tapers to minimize the discomfort and potentially serious complications of withdrawal. By undergoing medical detox, you increase your chances of achieving early remission and recovery, giving yourself the best chance of reaching your treatment goals.” – Medical Director Dr. Meera Joseph, MD
There is also the reality that a great majority of alcohol clients need medical supervision as they taper off one or more medications, such as naltrexone, which may have been administered during detox in order to relieve cravings and ensure a safe, comfortable and complete taper off alcohol.
Additionally, a great many clients with alcohol use disorder have a co-occurring mental condition or “dual diagnosis” that typically requires a minimum of 35+ days of post-detox medical supervision detox to be effectively diagnosed and in turn treated.

Alcohol Detox and Treatment at Beach House – What Sets Us Apart
Alcohol detox and treatment at Beach House is characterized by a number of unique features that help to explain why our treatment outcomes consistently outperform the industry average.
Learn more about our treatment outcomes and the clinical excellence practices that account for them.
Medication-Assisted Treatment – We employ the latest medical advances in treating addiction. One of these is Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT). Research shows that MATs for alcohol, such as naltrexone, can effectively relieve alcohol cravings and reduce rates of relapse in early recovery.
An OTP-certified, On-Site Pharmacy – Unlike many providers, Beach House enjoys the designation of being OTP certified— the highest level of certification that an addiction treatment provider can attain, based on a strict accreditation process that requires the oversight and approval of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. Our in-house pharmacy can therefore dispense all medication-assisted treatments (MATs), from naltrexone for alcohol to more highly regulated MATs, quickly, conveniently and right on site at our facility.
Our Track Record in the Community as a Trusted Florida Provider – Beach House is known locally for its high safety standards. Our medical staff can and do provide one-on-one, 24/7 medical monitoring to clients who need it. We also have strong working relationships with hospitals in the area, including Jupiter, JFK, and Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center, which regularly refer clients to us. Their close proximity also ensures that Beach House clients are guaranteed an extra layer of support and peace of mind in cases of a medical emergency.
Our Facility and Location – Our state-of-the-art facility offers a full continuum of substance abuse care, all within the safety and convenience of one peaceful, self-contained campus in sunny Juno Beach, Florida.

Low Client-Therapist Ratio – One way that we strive to measure, cultivate and continually improve therapeutic alliance is by providing a very low client-therapist ratio. In contrast to other drug treatment providers in Florida and nationwide, Beach House offers a strikingly low client-therapist ratio— 7:1 as opposed to the industry average of 11:1. This ensures more personalized attention to treatment needs, even during group therapy sessions.
Therapeutic Alliance – We place a strong emphasis on “therapeutic alliance” (the degree of connection and rapport between a client and their therapist)—and strive to provide this to every client who comes through our doors. Research suggests that a strong therapeutic alliance may be the single biggest predictor of success in recovery.
I’ve personally witnessed what the research also shows: that a strong therapeutic alliance substantially improves clinical outcomes, by boosting client engagement and retention during treatment.” – Chief Clinical Officer Anna Ciulla, LMHC, RD, LD
