Akinboyede Akinyemi, M.D.
Dr. Akinyemi directs and oversees patients’ medical care at our detox and treatment programs, including the administration of medication-assisted treatments and dual diagnosis treatments (for substance use and co-occurring disorders). He has more than 7 years work and research experience in Medicine including behavioral health and addiction.
Dr. Akinyemi completed his medical school at Avalon University School of Medicine, Curacao. Netherlands Antilles. A portion of his medical school was completed in Curacao while the clinical portion was completed in the United States. Upon graduation from Medical school in 2012, he continued to acquire medical knowledge leading to successful completion of General Psychiatry Residency training at Larkin Community Hospital in South Miami. Florida. Due to his outstanding performance which included an exemplary display of professionalism, great leadership qualities he won multiple awards including resident of the year every year while in training. He also authored and co-authored multiple peer reviewed publications. He was elected Chief Psychiatry Resident during his 4th year of psychiatry residency training. Upon completion or his residency training, he has continued to acquire vast experience while working as a psychiatrist providing care for patients with substance use disorders, mood disorders, personality disorder, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders and trauma related issues. His training and experience make him extremely comfortable working with various patient spectrums and multidisciplinary teams.
He is a member of the American Psychiatric Association, American Society of Addiction Medicine, American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacologists and Florida Psychiatry Society.
Dr. Akinyemi enjoys spending time with his family whenever his is not working. You will find him either visiting historic sites, travelling, enjoying various cultural experiences including art, ethnic cuisines and music. He also speaks multiple languages. Pertaining to patient care, the diversity of his cultural experiences gives him the ability to understand various patient-related issues that may be culture-bound. He enjoys exercising and updating his medical knowledge at every available opportunity.

Lance Chaykin, PA
Lance Chaykin is a physician assistant with over 18 years’ experience in multiple disciplines, including internal medicine/endocrinology, physical medicine and rehabilitation. Work in the field of addiction medicine since 2011 has given Lance tremendous empathy for those who suffer from a wide variety of substance use disorders. As a result, he is highly involved in all aspects of patient medical care, taking a proactive and hands-on approach. “To have an opportunity to watch people recover from substance abuse is by far the most rewarding part of my job,” he says. Lance graduated from Nova Southeastern University in 2000.
